Because we see your child every six months, we notice how their bite and jaw are developing long before problems get expensive. Interceptive dentistry is about small, well-timed steps, and just as often, about confirming that no step is needed at all.
What interceptive care includes
Gentle guidance for growing jaws and arriving teeth, only when it genuinely helps.
- Space maintainers. When a baby tooth is lost too early, a small appliance holds its spot so the adult tooth underneath still has room to arrive straight.
- Habit appliances. For persistent thumb-sucking or tongue habits that start reshaping the bite, a gentle reminder appliance helps kids break the habit kindly.
- Early orthodontic evaluations. Around age seven we take a careful look at how the bite is shaping up, so crowding or crossbites are spotted while jaws are still easy to guide.
- Growth and bite monitoring. Most kids just need watching. We track development at every checkup and tell you honestly when something is worth acting on, and when it isn't.
Many things resolve as jaws grow
Plenty of childhood bite quirks resolve on their own as jaws grow. Our job is to know the difference, and because your child's whole history lives with one team, nothing gets missed and nothing gets oversold.
- Watchful first. Many findings just go on a watch list. You'll always know what we're watching and why.
- Well-timed, not early for its own sake. Interceptive steps work because of timing. We act in the window where a small appliance saves a big treatment.
- Honest about next steps. If your child will eventually need full orthodontics, we say so plainly and help coordinate the right care at the right age.
- Kid-comfortable appliances. Anything your child wears gets fitted gently, explained simply, and checked at every visit.

Around age seven is the sweet spot, early enough that jaws are still growing and easy to guide, late enough that adult front teeth are arriving and the picture is clear. Since we already see your child twice a year, this check happens naturally at their regular visits.
